Windrush 75: free workshops and extra support to help you get National Lottery funding

The National Lottery Community Fund are supporting Windrush 75 activity.

The 75th Anniversary of Windrush in June this year is a major national moment that will be important to many communities across the UK.

This historic anniversary is a moment to celebrate, commemorate and reflect upon the incredible legacy created by the endeavours and strong mindedness of Windrush pioneers.

It’s a great opportunity to bring people and communities together and The National Lottery Community Fund wants to help you and your community make the most of it.

Patrick Vernon, Convenor of the Windrush 75 network, says: “Windrush 75 is like a Diamond Jubilee for modern, diverse Britain. We are celebrating four generations of contribution, legacy, struggle and positive change. And it is a moment to look to the future too, at how we address the challenges to come.”

Thanks to National Lottery players, grants of up to £10,000 are available for community-led events and activities designed to commemorate this historic occasion. This funding will be available for Windrush 75 activities throughout the year, but if you want a grant specifically for Windrush Day (22nd June) itself then you will need to apply by 30th March.

Whether you are applying for funding for the first time or you are an established community organisation, The National Lottery Community Fund wants to make the application process as simple and supportive as possible to give you the best chance of success!

They are holding four free workshops to support potential applicants, especially those who are applying for the first time, so you can ask any questions you may have regarding your application or idea. Sign-up to take part.

If you simply want to apply, that’s fine too – visit your local National Lottery Awards for All webpage to find out more: England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland. Here is a short guide that will help you to avoid some common pitfalls, plus you are very welcome to call The National Lottery Community Fund’s Advice Team for support on 0345 410 2030.
